In the Forest School Handbook you can find all the policies and procedures that I have written so that you can check how your child will be cared for while at Forest School. It includes information about I make sure that everyone is treated fairly, how we teach children to use tools and fire safely what you should bring to eat and drink if you come for a day, what would happen if there was an accident, How sustainable we are and how children are taught about the importance of this. Information like the wind speed chart below that helps us decide if it is too windy to put a session on. Other things like is there a toilet? what is it like? is all important information for children to know. If there is something missing that you have spotted then please let me know, it will really help me out and improve the information that parents and carers can access. :-)
We will not run a session in the woods if the wind is at scale 6/7 and above. The wind is dangerous in the woodland due to falling branches and also when we have a fire. We don't cancel very often but if we do we will let you know as early as we can on the day.
This is a great guide! It tells us when it is too windy to be safe in the woods.
